Is your child struggling with Math? This is the beginning statement of the intro video of myself, the founder and CEO of Online Math Tutoring.

Or is s/he interested in improving the grade? Whatsoever may be the cause, I, Nilanjana Sanyal, am there to help you. I am an online Math tutor of CBSE, ICSE, WB State Board, IGCSE, Cambridge O, AS and A levels. I am from India.

I am here to tell you about how this whole process came into being. To make you know more about myself and my Online Math Tutoring, which was originally named as Online Math Tutor Friend. Even at present, both the names are used.

Teaching runs in my blood. Teaching is my passion. Both my grandfather and my mother were teachers. I still remember incidences when my class friends use to come to me to understand some difficult parts of our syllabus or sometimes when they used to remain absent for a particular class. By God’s blessing, they used to love my teaching style. That was the time when I started realising that not only did I like teaching, but also my teaching style was an acceptable one or I would like to be a little more brave to say that my teaching was loved by others. This helped in building my confidence.

I have almost 13 years of teaching experience and 3 years of experience in online tutoring.

Some 4 years backward, I fell seriously sick. I was suffering from gastritis. After my recovery, my mother fell ill and I was her caregiver. I could no longer carry on with my full time job. I had posted my C.V. on a few job sites previously. I was wondering about what could be done. At that time, I had no idea about online tutoring. Suddenly, I got an interview offer from an online tutoring agency. This marked the beginning of my current profession. I accepted the offer since it could be done from home and was not a full time occupation. Another feature of online tutoring that attracted me was its vast reach. I could help a student from the US or UK and similarly, a student could select his/her suitable tutor without having to pay attention to the geographic distance. So the journey began.

After a year, I opened my own online tutoring business, Online Math Tutor Friend, and this has been possible mainly because of the continuous positive feedback and motivation received from my students and their parents.

I strongly believe that teaching does not only involve the academic knowledge of a teacher. Teaching starts with first locating the problem that a child is currently facing. Then comes its correction or remedial process. This identification of the problem is vital and according to me, the parents play, or can play, an important part in this process.

Since the parents stay with their child for a much longer time than a teacher or a tutor, they may be able to observe their child’s behaviour while doing homework or while learning a particular subject. The parents get the opportunity to talk to the subject teachers, where they can know about the performance of their child during the class hours. Even the report cards reflect the performance of a child in a certain subject.

A school child is often not matured enough to spot the cause of his/her poor performance. According to me, a child’s performance is the best when there is a perfect coordination between the tutor, the child and the parent. Therefore, I ask for regular feedbacks from the parents.

So far, I have tutored children with natural capabilities. But I am also open to help any student having certain physical challenges, in a group or as one-on-one .

I would be more than happy to help you overcome your anxieties related to your kid's Math education. Students are free to ask me any question to clear their doubts without any fear or shame. I conduct both one-on-one and group sessions. Students can also come with their friends to avail of the group tuition opportunity which is extremely cost effective.

Hope you have a wonderful rest of your day.
