I am Nilanjana Sanyal, an online Math tutor from India with over 22 years of teaching experience. Currently, I tutor only IB Math AA HL students (Grades XI - XII) from Indian and NRI families.
My Vision
To develop high-quality Mathematics learning resources for students from Grades 9–12, enabling them to build strong mathematical foundations and confidence.
My Mission
My mission is to help IB Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches Higher Level (AA HL) students develop a deep understanding of mathematical concepts, strengthen their logical thinking, and build confidence in tackling challenging problems. Through structured online one-to-one and small-group tutoring, along with thoughtfully designed online courses and learning resources, I aim to help students master mathematical concepts, become independent thinkers, and approach their examinations with confidence.

I am Nilanjana Sanyal
I am Nilanjana Sanyal, an online Mathematics tutor from India with over 22 years of teaching experience. I specialise exclusively in IB Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches Higher Level (AA HL), helping students develop conceptual understanding, logical thinking, and confidence.
Curriculum and Fees
Curriculum Covered
IB Analysis and Approaches HL
Fees For 1 - 1 Sessions
INR 1,750 per hour for IB AA HL.
For 2 Students Per Group
5 hours per week
INR 20,500 per month per IB Math AA HL student. (student can write on the whiteboard during the sessions)
For 3 To 5 Students Per Group
5 hours per week
INR 15,000 per month per IB Math AA HL student. (student can write on the whiteboard during the sessions.)
Pricing of recorded sessions will be given to the students directly.
Each student will earn a free session (for one-on-one sessions) and two free sessions (for 3-5 group sessions) for every successful referral.

Don't Let Your Calculator Do Your Thinking!

If you have come to IB Mathematics from IGCSE, O-Level, MYP, or another programme where you used your calculator extensively, you may have developed the habit of reaching for it even for simple calculations.
But IB Math AA HL Paper 1 is a non-calculator paper, so mathematical fluency matters. Start practising simple calculations mentally, working with fractions and surds, estimating values, and looking for easy numerical relationships before reaching for your calculator.
Your calculator is a wonderful tool—but don't let it do the thinking that your brain can do!

My Teaching Philosophy
I believe that learning Mathematics is a continuous process. My role is to guide students towards deeper understanding, independent thinking, and the confidence to tackle challenging problems. Every student has a different starting point, but the goal remains the same: continuous improvement.
Building Understanding Step by Step
I introduce new concepts and guide students through carefully selected textbook questions, progressing from straightforward examples to more challenging problems. I primarily follow one textbook, referring to others when useful.
Developing Independent Thinkers
I encourage students to spend time thinking through challenging questions before checking a markscheme. This develops persistence and helps them prepare for examinations, where they must work out solutions independently.
Connecting Topics and Retaining Knowledge
I sometimes revisit previously completed chapters through short, ungraded questions. These quick checks help students recall earlier learning and recognise connections between mathematical topics.
Learning and Improving Together
Some students seek help because they are struggling with their grades; others want to progress from Level 6 to Level 7. My approach remains the same for every student: we identify difficulties, learn from mistakes, and work towards improvement together.

Under Nilanjana ma’am’s guidance, I was able to achieve a 7 in IB Maths AA HL May 2026 session. I first reached out to her during DP2 when I was struggling to keep up with the demands of the course. After scoring a 4 on one of my tests, I had lost confidence in my abilities and felt helpless.
From the very beginning, ma'am created a safe and supportive learning environment where I felt comfortable asking questions and learning from my mistakes. She patiently worked through each of my weaknesses, one by one. I was notorious for making silly mistakes but she never lost patience. Instead, we practiced countless past paper questions together until I was able to solve them confidently.
When I struggled to understand a concept, ma'am would explain it in different ways until everything finally clicked. Even outside our lessons, she was always supportive. Whenever I got stuck on a question, I could message her for help. Despite being busy with her other classes, ma'am always found the time to get back to me as soon as possible.
I remember feeling very nervous the day before my final IB Maths exam but ma'am reassured me and gave me a heart-felt pep talk. I am grateful to have been taught by her. She is an excellent teacher and a compassionate mentor. She helped me realise that mathematics is not something to fear but rather something to understand and investigate. Most importantly, she believed in me when I struggled to believe in myself. Thank you again ma'am for taking me from a 4 to a 7, something I could never imagine!
